Who Do You Report Email Scams To FTC?
Who you report email scams to really depends on the type of email scam that you receive.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is usually the main place to report scam emails, but there are other places you may also report scams. If you have not already read our article on the top current email scams, please do so.
Email scam con artists are clever and cunning, constantly hatching new variations on age-old email scams. Still, skeptical consumers can spot questionable or unsavory promotions in pcam email offers. Should you receive an email that you think may be fraudulent, forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov, hit delete, and smile. You’ll be doing your part to help put an email scam artist out of work.
If you receive an email that you think may be an email scam, forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov and to the abuse desk of the sender’s ISP. Also, if the scam email appears to be impersonating a bank or other company or organization, forward the message to the actual organization.
The important this to remember when you receive a scam email is to not open the email as it could contain trojan horses or viruses. Be sure to forward the email to the FTC or the appropriate place to help stop email scams.
